Blessing of Beauty

As I drive down the road of my little town I am caught by the beauty that surrounds me; the trees, mountains, wild flowers, the sun shimmering on the lake, even children playing on the playground. My heart rejoices at the sight of such beauty and I lift my heart in praise to God. As my thoughts turn to God I recognize a bigger blessing involved; the blessing to be able to see the beauty. So many times my eyes are closed to the beauty that surrounds me. My car and others pass without a single glance at what surrounds us. It is a pure gift from God to have eyes open to see. The beauty is there all the time! I have been blessed to see the beauty in obvious places, a sunset on the beach, a field of wildflowers, a rainbow, but also in the not so expected places, a tree, a simple leaf, the smile on a child. In the country it is easier but even in the city it surrounds you; flowers in a window box, a puppy on a walk, the love of a mother and child. Ask God to open your eyes to the beauty that surrounds you. He will and you will be amazed at all the beauty that has been there all along. When you receive this precious gift, rejoice and give God honor and glory for without Him beauty is so much harder to see. May you be blessed to see and drink in the beauty that surrounds you today!
