The Upside Down World of Scouting: How It Affects Family

Today’s world of scouting certainly isn’t that of your parents’ day! The Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA) are in cahoots with abortion giant Planned Parenthood, and there is a push within the Boy Scouts of America (GSA) for openly homosexual leaders. As it is, they already accept openly gay scouts into the fold.

More, Deeply Troubling Developments in Scouting

Recently the Girl Scouts embraced transgender children into their club. So if little girls don't want to share their troop with a boy in girl's clothing, their objections will fall on deaf ears.

The Boy Scouts, on the other hand, have decided to show their feminine side. According to their leadership water guns are verboten! That's right, it's too violent to point a colorful piece of plastic containing H2O at a fellow scout. Equally enlightened parameters have been established for water balloons - which must now be no larger than a ping pong ball.

The Price Is Being Paid By Our Children

What are we to make of this trend to turn the world of scouting upside down? It might be viewed as an outright assault on Christianity and the family. As stalwart beacons of normalcy in the past, gender characteristics are being shamefully turned topsy turvy.

While boys in girls' clothing are sharing your little girl's scouting troop, the boys' troops are being feminized and exposed to open homosexuality. This blurring of gender lines is no longer exclusively carried out by confused, perverted adults. Today's radicalization is being thrust into the once innocent world of our children through their clubs.

So Who Benefits?

Meanwhile, children are also being force-fed a hyper-sexualized and homosexual agenda. We see Girl Scouts selling cookies benefitting close allies of abortion giant, Planned Parenthood. Boy Scouts are being exposed to openly homosexual peers. In addition, homosexual characters are appearing at an alarming and ever-increasing rate in entertainment - even though same sex attracted individuals make up less than 2% of the general population. All this in the name of fairness and tolerance.

Tragically, this sexual trend feeds right into the salacious world of Planned Parenthood, where children are groomed for early onset promiscuity. You may be surprised to find that their sex ed programs are firmly entrenched in most school systems now (as well as GSUSA) - teaching children about all ranges of sexuality, as early as kindergarten.

But woe to those who perpetuate these moral crimes on our children! As we are told in the Gospel of Matthew, “But he that shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be drowned in the depth of the sea.

The Price Is Being Paid By Our Families

The price paid by youthful, sexually active girls as they become pregnant, is the morbid 'solution' of abortion. Meanwhile, the coffers at Planned Parenthood fill to the brim - their marketing strategy becoming a resounding success: Teach unfettered sex, provide inferior condoms, and they will come - to the abortion mill where butcherous doctors kill innocents and maim their mothers in facilities lacking of regulation and filthy conditions.

Boys fare no better as valor and chivalry are cast aside for nothing more than a focus on animalistic gratification. This affects the relationships formed between the genders and doesn't bode well for a grace-filled outlook on the Sacrament of Matrimony. Men are no longer taught to emulate the masculine characteristic of protector and provider. Their newly emasculated roles are no more than fodder for today’s abnormal stereotypes.

Girls, conversely, fail to fully develop their uniquely female characteristics of nurturers and mothers. They are sadly lacking gender-specific role models and are all too often fated to grow up with a muddled image of self.

Marriage is on the decline and lacks permanence. Those marriages that do survive, are all too often mechanical and sterile in passion. Many times children are left out in the cold, with no one after whom to model themselves.

Is There A Solution?

So what is a parent to do? The ‘it takes a village’ world seeks to usurp the parents’ right to raise and educate their own children. Yet the Church teaches the specific role of first teachers for parents. “Parents should teach children to avoid the compromising and degrading influences which threaten human societies.” Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 2224)

In defining family, it is further stated, “The Christian family is a communion of persons, a sign and image of the communion of the Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit. In the procreation and education of children it reflects the Father's work of creation. It is called to partake of the prayer and sacrifice of Christ. Daily prayer and the reading of the Word of God strengthen it in charity. The Christian family has an evangelizing and missionary task.” (CCC 2205)

In light of the dilemma faced by families today, Pope Francis recently admonished parents for having “self-exiled from the education of their children”. His message instructed them to recapture their role from the “so-called experts”. (May 20, 2015 General Audience)

In closing Pope Francis added, “May the Lord grant to Christian families the faith, the liberty, and the courage necessary for their mission!”

The Role of Church and Parents

In answer to this call, we must vehemently defend the institution of marriage, resurrect the parental role in the lives of their children, and strengthen the faith life of all. Given the inroads won by the secular world, all of this will not be an easy task. Yet, “it is the duty of citizens to work with civil authority for building up society in a spirit of truth, justice, solidarity, and freedom”. (CCC 2255)

Difficult decisions need to be made in deference to the wellbeing of souls of our children – entrusted to us by God. Of what value are scouting organizations and other secular pursuits, when they run counter to all of our moral values?

With the continuing secularization of our world today, we are blessed with our Catholic Faith, where we can find everything we need. It’s our duty to reclaim religious liberty from the grasp of those who would trample this God-given right.

As parents teach the tenants of the faith to their children, their own faith will be invigorated. The prayers of all members of the family, from the youngest to the elderly, will unite us with the Community of Saints in our quest for Life Eternal.

Partaking of the sacraments frequently will give us an abundance of grace, strengthen our sense of purpose, and defend us from the forces of evil.

With prayer, courage, and a loving spirit of determination we will garner the grace necessary to walk the narrow path. Fathers, mothers, and children are more than capable of walking, hand in hand, into a holy future. After all, we’re tasked with helping those we love to gain Heaven.

"By reason of their state in life and of their order, [Christian spouses] have their own special gifts in the People of God."145 This grace proper to the sacrament of Matrimony is intended to perfect the couple's love and to strengthen their indissoluble unity. By this grace they "help one another to attain holiness in their married life and in welcoming and educating their children." (CC 1641)
