Sharing Our Faith

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom his love commits me here, ever this day (night) be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
I believe in angels. I’ve had my share of experiences with them. Angels are sent to watch over us, and as this simple prayer tells us, they light our way, they guard and rule in our lives, and guide us according to God’s will. God sends these guardians because He loves us and wishes to keep us safe assuming we act according to His will.
Instances of angels appearing to man are found throughout scripture. My personal favorite is found in Revelation 19:10 where an angel of God tells John not to worship him, but God instead: “I feel at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t! I am a fellow servant of yours and your brothers who bear witness to Jesus. Worship God.” In other words, angels are aware of our trials and faith in Christ. They know us.
Angels are sent to us for many reasons and during different seasons, but likely for one of the reasons listed below:
To give us messages: "Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you," (Lk. 1:28).
To keep us safe: "Behold, I am going to send an angel before you to guard you along the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared,” (Ex. 23:20).
To appear to us: “The angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not consumed,” (Ex. 3:2)
To prosper us: "He said to me, 'The Lord, before whom I have walked, will send His angel with you to make your journey successful,” (Gen. 24:40).
To talk to us: “Then I said, "My lord, what are these?" And the angel who was speaking with me said to me, "I will show you what these are," (Zec. 1:9).
To comfort us: “The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God,” (Lk. 1:30).
In a world of chaos it’s nice to know that there is a greater Being that watches over us and more specifically that we are each assigned an angel of the Lord for that very purpose. In the Catechism of the Catholic Church 336 it states: “From its beginning until death human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life. Already here on earth the Christian life shares by faith in the the blessed company of angels and men united to God.”
Begin by believing you have an angel watching over you and your life will be transformed!
