Why I Went To West Webster

As I sat minding my business, having a drink at a local restaurant, a diner got up from his table and approached the bar to thank me for rendering honors to his loved one - a sixty one year veteran of the fire service.
As much as I know about the emergency services honor guard, as much time and effort as I have put into training, and as many honor guards as I've served on, I am more aware of the mistakes than I am of what was done right.
I have appreciated this form of my service in the fire department as an analogy for liturgical worship for a long time now.
That said, if I were to have responded to that grateful gentleman by pointing out several of the missteps I took during the firematic rites for his uncle, he would have claimed not to have noticed.
Why is it that popes, bishops, and their clergy and prominant parishioners are concerned with how CONFINING the older liturgical rites must be?
THEY AREN'T!
