After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, approached, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it.His appearance was like lightning and his clothing was white as snow. The guards were shaken with fear of him and became like dead men.
Then the angel said to the women in reply, “Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him.’ Behold, I have told you.”
Then they went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce this to his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me . . .”
The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they saw Him, they worshiped, but they doubted.
Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
Those familiar with my previous articles know that I have focused on the science of it all—how God does it—to show that the science comes from God, not those who are co-opting it as their own creations for their own gains. Discoveries should not be shunned but embraced as validation of our faith and His existence, as I did previously and do here.
And so, according to Matthew 28:1-10, 16-20 above, the incredible story of Jesus the Christ—The Greatest Story Ever Told—speeds towards its miraculous conclusion. Now risen in body and in the Holy Spirit, little remains for our Savior but his return to Heaven from which the Spirit came, where He awaits us.
The Story started with the son of God conceived not by a man and a woman, but by God and the Blessed Mother, through the Holy Spirit—the thoughts, the will, and the energy of God which permeate the Universe and the Story which we are part of. With all that power in him, God’s Son grew into a man, relayed God’s laws and formulas to us, led by example, died for our sins, and finally rose in body and in that Spirit.
Christ’s birth, life, death, and resurrection have shown us who and what we are, why we’re here, what we are part of—just as He has shown us the way to open the Gates of Heaven. Death need not be the end to that life. Our birth into His Story has given us the opportunity and our own power to think, observe, remember, and believe—then continue on in the Spirit as He has, to carry our own story to the Gates where we stand in God’s white light to be judged by what we did that power. Will our story mesh with His or be rejected?
The way to pass beyond those Gates is written in the Story, too. Those laws and formulas are clear and unalterable—part of the Holy Spirit where Christ, as promised, remains with us to the end of this age. Accept those laws, observe them, and, as promised, we all may be welcomed into His Never-ending Kingdom.
