The Calming of Our Storm

Growing up we always dreaded the call of parents telling us it is time to come inside for the day. It always ended up with pleading for five more minutes. Over the last few weeks, I have noticed myself pleading with God. While I am not pleading with God to allow me to spend five more minutes outside, I am still pleading with God.
It is the whispering of knowing what God is asking me to do and not wanting to do it. It is the fact that I just feel like I need a stronger sign. Yet, we all do this. It always reminds me of the story of the man being stuck in raging flood waters. God sends him help, but each time he says that his God will save him. The man ends up dying. God says to him, “I sent you help. Why did you not take it?”
God’s calling us is the whispers of daily life. He asks us to do things that are going to take us out of our comfort zone. Yet, many times we are afraid to step out. We are afraid of people saying things. We are afraid of failing. We are afraid of not knowing what is coming next. Will we be prepared for what God is asking us to do?
Reality is God is asking each one of us to fulfill His plan. He wants each one of us to do certain things that no one on this planet can do. We were each made to hear God’s call and answer it. However, we were also made with free will and are allowed to choose to answer God’s call. If we do not answer God’s call, then all it does is allows God to continue to call us.
While we may not like what God is calling us to do, we must realize that God will bring us through it. If God truly wants us to do His Will, then He is going to help us out of our comfort zone. It can be difficult and will not be an easy road. However, pleading with God is not getting me anywhere. My pleas of I am not good enough; I am not strong enough. God, I just cannot do what you asked me to do. Then, I figure if I ignore the calls of God, then He will stop asking me.
Unfortunately, God is not stopping. He finds ways to allow those moments in whether it is through friends, strangers, or other situations. The only thing that can be done is to stop pleading and just do what God wants from me. Like a child, I may not be happy right now. Yet, God has one responsibility to get me to Heaven to spend the rest of eternity with Him. By stopping my pleas and surrendering to God, I am allowing God in and choosing to answer God’s call. May we all have the strength and courage to answer God’s call.
